The Healing Balm of Service: The Power in Turning Outward

When burnout threatened to break me and left me feeling like a failure, God revealed a counterintuitive path to renewal. Rather than focusing inward, He helped me discover that turning outward and helping others applied a healing balm to my wounded soul.  My personal experiences with the non-profits Samaritan’s Purse, Tree of Life Ministries, Jill’s House, and Don’t Go Alone taught me that a sense of purpose can help us transcend personal struggles and that community is a vital tool of regeneration (please see my pricing section to learn more about these organizations).

Being of service to others directly inform my coaching philosophy. The heavy, unwanted feelings I experienced during burnout have left me with a deep empathy to move toward—not away from—those who are hurting.  I understand the profound depth of burnout and recognize that restoration is not a solitary journey. My transformation through service has fundamentally shaped how I support others on their journeys.

Reflection Questions

  • Who in your community might benefit from your support today?
  • Where could you lend your time or skills to uplift others?
  • What small step will you take to find your own healing balm through service?

By considering these questions, you too can find healing and purpose in the act of helping others. If you find yourself seeking a partner on your journey toward renewal and purpose, I invite you to explore the coaching services at Grace & Mercy Change Coaching.
